Are there chamber music programs at the Rocky Mountain Springs Harp Program?
Yes! Working with other musicians is a major part of the program. Harp students work closely with each other in harp ensemble and with strings students at the Rocky Mountain Summer Conservatory. We encourage students with brothers or sisters who play the oboe or stringed instruments to apply to both programs. In the past families have participated in both RMSHP and RMSC and returned home with new chamber music repertoire.
Where is the program located?
The program is based at the Colorado Mountain College Steamboat Springs. Students room, take meals, practice, and have interdisciplinary classes on campus. Performances and outdoor activities are held in the town and surrounding areas of Steamboat Springs.
What are the age requirements?
The program is primarily intended for secondary, college, conservatory or postgraduate education, ages 14-22, but any interested harpist is encouraged to apply!
Are lever harpists accepted?
The program is primarily intended for pedal harpists, but lever harpists are accepted as well.
Do I need to bring my own harp?
Students are encouraged to bring their own instruments. However, rental harps are available on a very limited basis.
